UHS Summer Academy - 2025
UHS Summer Academy is an annual learning series and has a focus on clinical services. The topics will focus on meeting student needs in a brief model of care, common dispositions in a collegiate health center, and best practices for providing services within the system of care.
Activity Format
The format for this series is virtual, live and hybrid (virtual and live).

Intended Audience
This activity is designed for physicians, nurses, advanced practice providers, psychologists, social workers, licensed counselors and other interested mental healthcare providers.
Elements of Competence
This continuing education activity has been designed to change learner competence and focuses on the American Board of Medical Specialties areas of practice-based learning and improvement, and the interprofessional competencies of roles/responsibilities, and teams/teamwork.
Learning Objectives
As a result of participation in this series, members of the healthcare team will be able to:
- Apply ethical decision-making frameworks to clinical dilemmas common in a collegiate mental health setting.
- Analyze survey findings to describe how culture at UW-Madison affects the well being and sense of belonging of students of color and international students.
- Identify strategies to address related mental health and equity concerns.
- Identify commonly prescribed psychotropic medications for college students and evaluate potential contraindications and side effects relevant to this population.
- Evaluate current literature and emerging trends to identify best practices.
