SwedishAmerican Pharmacy Online Grand Rounds (2020-22)

Series Overview

This online educational series is focused on advancing pharmacy practice in the hospital. Grand Rounds address individual patient's medication orders for safety and effectiveness and taking corrective action as indicated, collaboratively managing medication therapy for individual patients, and leading continuous improvements in the medication use process. It is designed for pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and other clinicians who could benefit from participation. All pharmacy residents are required to present at Grand Rounds, as scheduled by the Medical Education Committee.

Pharmacy residents: please see the calendar on the HUB (under Continuing Medical Education) for topics, presenters and dates. All supporting documentation must be submitted to the Medical Education Committee on time, with ample time for preceptors to review prior to submission. This activity fulfills a requirement of for Pharmacy residency program and is a valuable learning opportunity for both presenters and attendees.

Intended Audience

Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, MD/DO, and Students. 

Learning Objectives

As a result of participation in this online educational series, participants will be able to:

  1. Improve therapeutic knowledge relative to the Top 50 Diagnoses.
  2. Recommend appropriate use of medications based on evidence based medicine.
  3. Identify examples of pharmacy practice changes that resulted from current clinical practice guidelines.
