Intended Audience

This activity is designed for psychologists, social workers, physicians, nurses and other interested mental healthcare providers.

Elements of Competence

This continuing education activity has been designed to change learner competence and focuses on the American Board of Medical Specialties areas of practice-based learning and improvement, and the interprofessional competencies of roles/responsibilities, and teams/teamwork.

Learning Objectives

As a result of participation in this series, members of the healthcare team will be able to:

  • Describe the difference between exercise and movement and physical activity impacts mental health
  • Explain the types of exercise modalities and health benefits associated with each type
  • Recommend exercise treatment plans based on patients' abilities, schedules, cultural considerations and personal preferences
  • Develop ways to build confidence and skills in patients aiming to adopt and maintain a physically-active lifestyle

Credit Designation Statements

Continuing Education (CE) credits for psychologists are provided through the co-sponsorship of the American Psychological Association (APA) Office of Continuing Education in Psychology (CEP). The APA CEP Office maintains responsibility for the content of the programs.

American Medical Association (AMA)
The University of Wisconsin–Madison ICEP designates this live activity for a maximum of 1.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB)
As a Jointly Accredited Organization, the University of Wisconsin–Madison ICEP is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved under this program. Regulatory boards are the final authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit.
