Objectives:

For Enterococcus, Streptococcus, and Staphylococcus infective endocarditis, be able to

1. Identify the proposed mechanism of synergy between aminoglycosides and cell wall active agents (β-lactams, glycopeptides)
2. Recall in vitro data surrounding aminoglycoside synergy
3. Recall clinical data surrounding aminoglycoside synergy
4. Explain pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic parameters of aminoglycosides when used for synergy and relate this to dosing strategies
