Series Overview

The UW Department of Emergency Medicine (EM) Grand Rounds series gives stage to the leaders in our specialty to present on topics that are high yield for faculty, residents, advanced practice providers (APPs), medical students, and other medical professionals. We reach out to speakers and ask that they address topics that will help keep our teams informed of current and evolving practices in Emergency Medicine. Our Grand Rounds speakers are recognized leaders/experts in the field who share the most up to date research findings and best practices to keep our healthcare teams competent. 

Target Audience

Emergency Medicine faculty (MD & DO), residents (MD & DO), advanced practice providers (PA-C, NP), medical students and occasionally nursing (RN, APRN, LPN) and pharmacy affiliated professions.

American Academy of PAs (AAPA)

The University of Wisconsin–Madison ICEP has been authorized by the American Academy of PAs (AAPA) to award AAPA Category 1 CME credit for activities planned in accordance with AAPA CME Criteria. This activity is designated for 1 AAPA Category 1 CME credits. Approval is valid until 6/30/2022. PAs should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation

Global Objectives: 

As a result of participation in the educational series, participants will be able to:

  1. Apply new knowledge and skills to the care of patients, either in the emergency department or in any area of off-service work
  2. Develop strategies to apply the interprofessional competencies in their team-based practice in order to function effectively as an interprofessional team
  3. Utilize peer-reviewed publications on Emergency Medicine topics on an ongoing basis to support bedside implementation of current research as clinical best practices
