Objectives:

As a result of this educational regularly scheduled series, learners as members of the healthcare team will be able to:

  1. Identify the relevant pathogens faced in diagnoses treated in general surgical practice
  2. Discuss the spectrum of coverage for commonly used antibiotics in general surgery practice and emerging resistance patterns
  3. Discuss best practice guidelines for antibiotic use and apply these to common general surgery scenarios
