UW Health Stroke Continuing Education Series 2026
Overview
Join us virtually during stroke month for learning and partnership as UW Health hosts our third annual stroke continuing education series. Led by distinguished experts in the field, these immersive sessions will foster a collaborative space where clinicians can actively engage with faculty. The participants will have an opportunity to connect, learn, and contribute to the future of cerebrovascular care. Learners will develop a comprehensive knowledge of stroke, including the differences between hemorrhagic and ischemic strokes, and the specific characteristics of embolic and small vessel strokes. They will identify presenting signs and symptoms, analyze risk factors, and interpret imaging findings. The sessions will cover the challenging case reviews, pediatric stroke and focus on caring for an intracerebral hemorrhage patient. Learners will also explore recovery strategies with a focus on rehabilitation.
Intended Audience
This activity is designed for nurses, physicians (including EM, hospitalists, primary care, and neurology), neurosurgeons, and stroke coordinators.
Learning Objectives
As a result of participation in this educational series, members of the healthcare team will be able to...
Enhance clinical decision‑making for intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH), including ICU care principles, application of ENRICH trial data, and evidence‑based strategies to optimize early treatment and outcomes.
Apply principles for investigating stroke etiology in hospitalized patients by selecting appropriate imaging, identifying key radiographic findings, and integrating results into time‑sensitive treatment pathways.
Strengthen multidisciplinary stroke care across the continuum, including best practices for early rehabilitation planning, post‑stroke management, and considerations for pediatric stroke.
Evaluate acute stroke treatments and advancements, including the transition to Tenecteplase and the evolution of endovascular therapy, within acute stroke management.
Apply current updates in acute ischemic stroke care and evaluate challenging cases using emerging research, updated guidelines, and real‑world analyses to support nuanced, patient‑centered clinical judgment.
