Learning Objectives
As a result of participation in this educational activity, members of the healthcare team will:
- Outline how medicine grew in the 19th and 20th centuries in the United States and how minorities were deliberately and systematically excluded from medical schools.
- Describe the challenges facing some of the earliest female neurologists, including Mary Putnam Jacobi and Sarah McNutt.
- Identify lessons from women’s history to increase the presence of under-represented minorities in health care professions.
