Epic Users Group Meetings – UGM 2019 -- Aug 26-29, 2019

Verona, WI US
August 26, 2019 to August 29, 2019

Course Overview

This conference is organized for physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and other Epic users to network and share practical knowledge unique to their experience with Epic software. The conference features user presentations, breakout discussions and upcoming functionality previews of particular interest to our physician, nursing and pharmacist communities. The content of these sessions reflects identified educational needs from the experiences of established users, both in the user presentations and the Epic-led discussions and previews.

A key feature in the success of Epic conferences is the presentation of experiences from the user community. Organizations around the country have independently identified areas of need, and leveraged EHR technology to address these areas in innovative fashion. The shared wisdom of the user community, supplemented by Epic-led breakout discussions and new functionality previews, create a learning experience for the audience which incorporates deeper understanding of health care delivery, EHR technology, and the interaction between the two.

In order to provide structure and context to the diverse content offerings, educational material can be broadly categorized into four areas: 1) clinical care (decision support, cost-effectiveness, patient safety, optimizing workflows), 2) Healthcare provider efficiency (documentation, orders management, clinical data review), 3) Patient experience (healthcare provider and patient communication, patient engagement), and 4) Analytics (disease management and population health).

Learning Objectives

Following this training the participant will be able to:

  • Identify EHR tools or strategies to support clinical decision-making and patient safety
  • Discuss methods of applying EHR technology to improve the process of providing care, and to practice more cost-effectively
  • Describe methods of improving the patient care experience through utilizing EHR technology
  • Identify areas of patient and population management where access to data can potentially improve the process and outcomes of care delivery
  • Describe EHR tools which enable healthcare providers to analyze data for patient care and population management.
