Fostering Interprofessional Learning Through Reflection

There is a great deal of research about the benefits of quality interprofessional (IPE) teamwork and collaboration on improving patient or client care. In particular, quality IPE care can support the quadruple aim by: improving patient outcomes and satisfaction, improving population health, reducing health care costs, and providing benefit to practitioners (Bodenheimer & Sinsky, 2014). IPE has also been shown to benefit student learning. For example, IPE fosters students to develop positive attitudes and perceptions toward IPE team based practice (Fox et al., 2018). There is a plethora of information available if you are interested in learning more about the benefits of IPE education, but for purposes of this journal club we are going to focus on reflection.
