Practicing Whole Health I Skills Labs (Choose only one)

This skills lab enhances provider skills in Whole Health communication. Providers will learn to explore what really matters in a clinical conversation by applying coaching skills to shared goal setting and linking patient goals to their life’s purpose. Providers will use previously taught communication skills (open ended questions, reflections and deep listening) to allow patients to begin talking about and hearing their own intrinsic motivation for change. Clinicians will then have the opportunity to use the new skill of Elicit-Provide-Elicit to guide patients towards real solutions.

Intended Audience

Clinicians who are interested in exploring Whole Health, considering how it can be used to improve one’s own health and well-being, and implementing Whole Health into their professional practices.

Learning Objectives

At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Utilize Elicit Provide Elicit (EPE) as a strategy to offer healthcare information to patients
  • Apply coaching skills to shared goal setting
  • Develop patients' self care goals to align with what really matters to them
