
Planning with Artificial Intelligence, Teaching with Integrity: Strategies for Continuing Education Planner

This 90-minute, in-person workshop is offered by the University of Wisconsin–Madison Interprofessional Continuing Education Partnership (UW–Madison ICEP). Participants will strengthen their continuing education planning skills by documenting practice gaps and learning needs, collaborating with subject matter experts, and formulating specific, measurable objectives. The workshop highlights practical strategies for using artificial intelligence (AI) tools responsibly while reinforcing the planner’s role in upholding the ACCME’s Standards for Integrity and Independence. Attendees will also engage in case studies to learn how to mitigate conflicts of interest (COI) and apply UW–Madison ICEP policies on COI and commercial support.
Intended Audience
This workshop is intended for interprofessional health science faculty and staff who are involved in planning continuing education for clinicians and healthcare teams.
Learning Objectives
As a result of participation in this workshop, learners will be able to:
- Explore multiple needs assessment sources to document practice gaps and learning needs.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts on developing learning objectives linked to team-based practice gaps, learning needs, competency statements, and desired educational outcomes.
- Use appropriately and responsibly AI-based tools available in educational environments to support accredited interprofessional continuing education planning.
- Explain responsibility of continuing education planners and presenters in meeting the ACCME’s Standards for Integrity and Independence in Accredited Continuing Education.
- Implement the UW-Madison ICEP policies for COI and commercial support.
- Appropriately mitigate COI prior to the start of the educational activity.
