Objectives

As a result of this educational regularly scheduled series, learners will be able to:

• Describe the pharmacology and toxicology of salicylates
• Explain the pathophysiology of salicylate poisoning
• Identify diagnostic tools to aid in interpretation of salicylate toxicity
• Examine the evidence for management of the acute aspirin overdose
