Series Overview

This regularly scheduled series was designed for pediatric orthopedic medicine providers across the United States who regularly care for patients with musculoskeletal conditions. The Pediatric Orthopedic Medicine Conferences are intended to enhance and expand the health care team's ability to apply research and practice standards to patient care.

Global Objectives

As a result of participation in this educational series, members of the healthcare team will be able to:

  • Improve history-taking questions and physical exam techniques important in clinically evaluating pediatric, adolescent and young-adult patients with musculoskeletal conditions
  • Improve their ability to identify normal variants and pathologic conditions on imaging modalities, including x-ray, CT, MRI, ultrasound and bone scan
  • Improve collective ability to share and discuss variations in care of patients with musculoskeletal conditions across the country, at other institutions and within differing healthcare and cultural environments  
  • Describe the roles of pediatric orthopedic physicians and care team members in providing effective patient care as part of an interprofessional and multi-disciplinary team while adapting to meet the needs of the diverse patient populations the team serves.

American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS) - CME Only

Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the learner to earn credit toward the CME of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery’s Continuing Certification (CC) Program. It is the CME activity provider's responsibility to submit learner completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABOS credit.

 

American Board of Pediatrics (ABP) (for select sessions - see session page for details)

Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the activity and individual assessment of and feedback to the learner, enables the learner to earn up to 1.0 MOC points in the American Board of Pediatrics’ (ABP) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit learner completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABP MOC credit.

The University of Wisconsin–Madison ICEP, as a member of the University Professional & Continuing Education Association (UPCEA), authorizes this program for 0.1 continuing education units (CEUs) or 1 hour.
