Title: Navigating Restrictive Eating in Pediatric GI: Identification, Intervention, and Interdisciplinary Collaboration

Learning Objectives:

 

  1. Identify appropriate screening questions and clinical red flags for restrictive eating disorders during pediatric GI visits.
  2. Identify medical criteria that warrant referral to the emergency department for children and adolescents exhibiting restrictive eating behaviors.
  3. Apply strategies for implementing medically necessary restrictive diets (e.g., gluten-free, FODMAP) while minimizing disordered eating risks in both high-risk and general pediatric populations.
  4. Analyze when to refer patients with restrictive eating to Adolescent Medicine versus co-management with primary care.
