  1. Explain what spirometry measures and how spirometry reference values help predict a patient’s predicted lung function.
  2. Describe why race-based adjustment factors have been used in pulmonary function test (PFT) labs until now.
  3. List reasons why lung function might differ in people of different races.
  4. Describe the implications of using race-neutral reference equations in the PFT lab for a pediatric Black patient with asthma.
