Learning Objectives

 

 

  1. Evaluate the direct bilirubin in newborn infants who have been jaundiced for more than two weeks.
  2. Explain that the presence of a gallbladder on ultrasound in newborns that are jaundiced does not rule out biliary atresia.
  3. Assess drug-drug interactions when starting a new medication in a post-liver transplant patient – particularly drug interactions with tacrolimus to avoid tacrolimus toxicity.
