Pediatrics Clinical Care Week 2025
Overview
The Department of Pediatrics Clinical Care Week is a hybrid conference that fosters an interdisciplinary learning community among health care providers. Focused on innovations in pediatric care across Wisconsin and the nation, the conference supports our vision that all patients and families receive the highest quality care. Through continuing education and shared best practices, we aim to strengthen clinical guidelines, promote collaboration across disciplines, and address health equity. The week also offers opportunities to connect, reflect, and support the well-being of patients, families, and care teams.
Practice Gaps and Needs
The field of pediatric medicine is continually changing, resulting in knowledge and performance gaps between current practice and best-practice recommendations. For the general pediatrician, family practice physician, advanced practice providers, nurses, and other members of the healthcare team, access to updates in state-of-the-art pediatric medicine is critical to providing optimal patient care resulting in knowledge and performance gaps between current practice and best practice recommendations. In addition to feedback from past conferences and grand rounds programs, results of a survey of Wisconsin-based physicians indicated great interest in these topics. Furthermore, the members of the conference planning committee, considered experts in this field, identified issues that have seen significant advances in recent years and that will be most applicable to attendees’ clinical work.
Intended Audience
This activity is designed to meet the needs of physicians, social workers, patients/caregivers/community members, residents, fellows, and trainees.
Elements of Competence
This educational activity is designed to change learner competence and focuses on the following competencies:
- Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME)/Nursing: Patient care and procedural skills, Medical knowledge

- UW ICEP Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: Engage in self-reflection, Address health disparities, Value diversity in the clinical encounter
Learning Objectives
As a result of participation in this activity, members of the healthcare team will be able to:
- Analyze recent updates to clinical guidelines and emerging evidence related to trauma care, vaccine-preventable diseases, and pediatric-to-adult care transitions to inform evidence-based practice.
- Identify specific strategies for integrating artificial intelligence (AI) tools into pediatric clinical workflows while maintaining ethical standards and patient-centered care.
- Demonstrate effective interdisciplinary communication strategies that support coordination of care and collaborative clinical decision-making in pediatric practice.
- Implement culturally responsive care approaches when working with diverse pediatric populations, including immigrant and refugee families, to promote equitable health outcomes and patient engagement.
