Howard S. Kim, MDHoward Kim, MD, is an Associate Professor at the Feinberg School of Medicine, where his work centers on optimizing the safety and effectiveness of acute pain management and reducing harms associated with substance use disorder. He earned his MD from Duke University School of Medicine in 2011, completed residency training at Denver Health Medical Center in 2015, and pursued advanced research training as a T32 Postdoctoral Fellow in Health Services and Outcomes Research at Northwestern University in 2017. He continued his scholarly development as a K12 Postdoctoral Fellow in Patient‑Centered Interventions and Patient‑Reported Outcomes in 2019. His research integrates clinical care, health services methods, and patient‑centered approaches to improve outcomes for individuals experiencing pain and substance use‑related challenges.
