Title:  "Hypoglycemia: Ensuring Student Safety During School Hours & After The Bell Rings"

As a result of participating in this educational activity, learners as members of the healthcare team will:

  • Define hypoglycemia in youth with diabetes and describe associated signs, symptoms, and complications.
  • Discuss hypoglycemia recognition, treatment, and prevention strategies considering differences in diabetes management, pump therapy vs multiple daily injection therapy.
  • Identify strategies for safe diabetes management beyond the school day and apply approaches that support age-appropriate independence.
  • Explain how social determinants of health and disparities affect hypoglycemia risk and diabetes outcomes.
