 | Child safety and protection cannot be overlooked during community emergencies and other crises. This course reviews stressors leading to neglect and abuse, describes indicators of possible neglect and abuse, explains how to respond, and offers connections to community resources for health care providers and families. |
Learning Objectives
As a result of this educational session, learners will be able to:
- Identify possible patient/family stressors and how to address them.
- Define and describe sentinel injury.
- Review the basics of assessing for different forms of child neglect.
- State mandatory reporting requirements as they pertain to child abuse and neglect.
