Learning Objectives:

  1. Review neurologic complications of HIV in general
  2. Discuss the presentations of HIV-associated primary infection and HIV-associated infections of the nervous system
  3. Review the prevalence, presentation, and treatments of combined HIV and TB-associated CNS infections
  4. Differentiate HIV-associated nervous system illnesses in terms of primary infection, opportunistic secondary infection, and treatment complications
  5. Explain the burden of HIV-associated neurologic illness in Sub-Saharan Africa, particularly Ethiopia.
