Series Overview

Medical Education Scholars in Pediatrics (MESP) is a monthly Regularly Scheduled Series for faculty and trainees to conduct research in medical education, viewing medical education as a primary focus for academic scholarship. These sessions are intended to foster collaboration and disseminate knowledge to promote scholarship in medical education. Success will be measured by the quantity of scholarly output in medical education per academic year and number of faculty seeking or successfully completing promotion with Education as a primary or secondary focus.

As a result of participation in this educational series, members of the healthcare team will:

  1. Develop programming and curriculum for scholarship in medical education within the department of Pediatrics
  2. Develop faculty expertise to mentor trainees in medical education projects
  3. Analyze articles and presentations related to medical education scholarship
  4. Formulate time, resources and assistance towards members producing at least one publication, abstract and/or presentation for each academic year (faculty), or for their training duration (trainees)
  5. Examine, through self-reflection, how implicit bias can impact scholarly work including: publications, research, scholarship and presentations
