Education Essentials - Cultivate an Inclusive Learning Climate

Welcome! In this module—Cultivate an Inclusive Learning Climate—you will hone skills and ideas in cultivating an inclusive learning climate for all learners.  Some examples may not align with your specific professional learning climate, though all can be adapted to your and your learners’ contexts.

Intended Audience

The Essentials in Education Module Series is intended for interprofessional health science faculty and staff who are interested in growing their skills and knowledge in the domains of teaching and learning.  Some examples may not align with your specific professional learning climate, though all can be adapted to your and your learners’ contexts.

Learning Objectives for this Cultivate an Inclusive Learning Climate module

As a result of participation in this educational activity participants will:

  1. Define learning climate, contributing factors, and why it matters for effective teaching
  2. Identify CLIMATE strategies to be inclusive and promote learning
  3. Practice CLIMATE framework in cases to foster inclusive and optimal learning climates
  4. Develop a plan to try 1-2 new skills to enhance learning climate in your own teaching

This module is part of UWSMPH Office of Faculty Affairs and Development’s Education Essentials online modular curriculum: a collection of modules aimed at developing foundational skills important for all teachers—across professions, specialties, and settings in health science education. The goal is to support all health science teachers to Reflect, Learn, Plan, and Practice to deepen expertise in an ongoing cycle and grow our UWSMPH educator community.
