UW-NIL: Advanced Rhythm Interpretation March 6, 2026

Rockford, IL US
March 6, 2026

Overview

Participants will learn how to interpret advanced cardiac rhythms with greater accuracy and confidence. They will deepen their understanding of complex ECG concepts such as bundle branch blocks, aberrancy, QT abnormalities, and Torsades de Pointes. They will learn to analyze ST‑segment changes and distinguish ischemic patterns from non‑ischemic causes. They will also correlate electrolyte imbalances with their ECG manifestations to better recognize clinically significant changes. By the end of the activity, learners will be able to apply systematic, advanced rhythm‑analysis skills to support safer and more informed clinical decision‑making.

Format: Live In-Person

This session is scheduled to be held in person at UW Health SwedishAmerican Hospital, 401 E. State St., Rockford, IL 61104.

Elements of Competence

This activity is designed to meet the educational needs of nurses, Advanced Nurse Practic, Monitor Techs; Rad Techs.

Learning Objectives

As a result of participation in this educational series, members of the healthcare team will be able to...

  • Differentiate normal and abnormal conduction patterns by accurately identifying bundle branch blocks (BBB), aberrant conduction, and related advanced rhythm disturbances on ECG tracings
  • Interpret QT interval abnormalities, including recognition of QT prolongation and associated risks such as Torsades de Pointes, using systematic ECG analysis
  • Analyze ST-segment changes to distinguish ischemic patterns from non-ischemic causes, including electrolyte imbalances and conduction abnormalities
  • Correlate electrolyte disturbances with ECG manifestations, identifying characteristic rhythm and waveform changes and their potential clinical implications
