Understanding the Time Course of Fluid and Imaging Biomarkers in Alzheimer’s Disease - Tobey Betthauser, PhD
In his talk, Dr. Betthauser will present recent results from his postdoctoral training at the Wisconsin Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center. This work investigated imaging and fluid biomarkers of AD pathophysiology to identify changes in beta-amyloid and tau proteins in relation to cognitive decline and health factors during the asymptomatic (i.e. “preclinical”) phase of Alzheimer’s disease.
Upon completion of this educational activity, participants will be able to:
- Explain the NIA-AA biological research framework for diagnosing and staging AD.
- Identify how patterns in data inform temporal relationships between AD biomarkers.
- Describe how PET biomarker profiles relate to cognitive decline in unimpaired persons.
