Substance Use Disorders Management Boot Camp (May 6, 2022) Virtual Workshop

This training aims to enhance confidence and competencies related to the management of substance use disorders in general medical settings. Through case-based and interactive didactic content, the workshop will explore issues related to assessment, monitoring, prevention, and management in the setting of unhealthy substance use.

Intended Audience

This program is designed for physicians, advanced practice nurses, and nurses who treat patients with opioid use disorder.

Learning Objectives

As a result of participating in this activity, learners will be able to: 

  1. Determine accurate diagnosis and initiate treatment for opioid use disorder and alcohol use disorder
  2. Interpret urine toxicology screens as it relates to managing opioid use disorder
  3. Demonstrate skills needed to work with patients who continue to use drugs and alcohol while in treatment for opioid use disorder or alcohol use disorder
  4. Determine appropriate treatment plan for OUD and AUD, including the initiation and maintenance of buprenorphine therapy, alcohol withdrawal management, and MAUD.
  5. Design clinic protocols for patient scheduling, rooming, triage calls, referrals to social work and behavioral health, and referral of complex patients for higher level of care.
