Intended Audience
This activity is designed for nurses, physicians (including EM, hospitalists, primary care, and neurology), and stroke coordinators.
Learning Objectives
As a result of participation in this educational activity, members of the healthcare team will be able to:
- Review the physiological changes in pregnancy that contribute to an increased risk of stroke.
- Identify the most common causes of stroke in pregnant and postpartum patients
- Discuss the clinical presentation and diagnostic approach to stroke in pregnancy and the postpartum period.
- Examine evidence-based management strategies for acute ischemic stroke, intracerebral hemorrhage, and CVST in pregnant and postpartum patients.
