Intended Audience

This activity is designed for nurses, physicians (including EM, hospitalists, primary care, and neurology), and stroke coordinators.

Learning Objectives

As a result of participation in this educational activity, members of the healthcare team will be able to:

  1. Differentiate between ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke.
  2. Review the etiological classification of ischemic stroke.
  3. Identify the key signs and symptoms associated with stroke and highlight clinical challenges with certain presentations.
  4. Utilize clinical scales such as the NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) and ASPECTS to assess stroke severity and guide treatment decisions.
  5. Evaluate the use of CT, CTA, and CT perfusion in determining candidacy for acute stroke intervention.
