Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) is a proven method to prevent HIV. But in Primary Care settings, it can be tricky to use because of provider concerns around testing, talking to patients about their sexual health, and the many other tasks primary care teams have to handle. This series will help Primary Care Providers and their Care Teams become more comfortable discussing sexual health and prescribing PrEP to their patients.

This series will be held over the course of three sessions (1/18/24, 2/22/24, 3/21/24). Learners are asked to attend all three sessions.

Intended Audience

This activity is designed for primary care physicians, nurses, advanced practice nurses, physician assistants, pharmacists, and social workers who have patients who may be prescribed PrEP.

Learning Objectives

By participating in this activity members of the healthcare team will be able to:

  1. Differentiate between the current options for PrEP
  2. Initiate HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) within primary care settings

  4. Identify potential barriers to PrEP and how to address them
