Course Overview

The purpose of this training is to teach Physician Power Users to efficiently use an EMR, which includes documenting notes, placing order, and personalizing the tools used for individual workflows used in patient care. 

Elements of Competence

This CE activity has been designed to change learner competence and focuses on the American Board of Medical Specialties area of systems-based practice, the Institute of Medicine competency of quality improvement and the Interprofessional Competency of roles and responsiblities. 

Statement of Need and Purpose

The purpose of this training is to demonstrate efficiencies in EMR configuration in order to accommodate patient workflows in speciality and subspecialty areas. Specifically, the courses will show learners how to personalize the tools they use in documentation, placing orders, and messaging about patient cares. 

Intended Audience

This program is intended for physicians in specialty and sub-specialty areas using the Epic EMR in their daily practice.

Learning Objectives

Following this training the participant will be able to:

  • Demonstrate how to personalize Patient Lists
  • Explain how to build a Patient List
  • Identify strategies to find and create documentation tools
  • Describe how to personalize activities used for common inpatient In Basket messages
