ELEMENTS OF COMPETENCE

This continuing education (CE) activity has been designed to change learner competence and performance, and focuses on the American Board of Medical Specialties areas of patient care and procedural skills, practice-based learning and improvement, interpersonal and communication skills, and systems-based practice, in addition to the interprofessional competencies of communication, roles/responsibilities, and teams/teamwork.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

As a result of participation in this educational activity, the healthcare team will be able to:

  • Demonstrate proper vent set-up for a pediatric patient
  • Identify and treat a metabolic emergency in a pediatric patient
  • Demonstrate appropriate ECMO troubleshooting during an emergency
  • Identify and understand all the components of an ECMO circuit

TARGET AUDIENCE

This activity is designed for nurses and physicians practicing in the EMCCT environment.
