ELEMENTS OF COMPETENCE

This continuing education (CE) activity has been designed to change learner competence and performance, and focuses on the American Board of Medical Specialties areas of patient care and procedural skills, practice-based learning and improvement, interpersonal and communication skills, and systems-based practice, in addition to the interprofessional competencies of communication, roles/responsibilities, and teams/teamwork.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

As a result of participation in this educational activity, the healthcare team will be able to:

  • Describe normal assessment findings of the obstetrical patient
  • Discuss management of eclampsia/pharmaceutical interventions
  • Explain the use of Mag in eclampsia and signs of tox
  • Identify signs of imminent delivery and reasons not to transfer
  • Describe the Impella device and identify potential complications

TARGET AUDIENCE

This activity is designed for nurses and physicians practicing in the EMCCT environment.
