ECHO Autism: What Does Anxiety and Autism Look Like in School-Age Children and Youth

OVERVIEW
The purpose of this activity is to learn best practices and evidence-based mental health care for children with autism. The Waisman Center is launching a training series for mental health providers on the intersection of anxiety and autism. Five sessions will be offered live virtually on every other Friday from October-December, 2022. Project ECHO® is a lifelong learning and guided practice model that is designed to build capacity to provide evidence-based services. Participants will get their clinical questions answered by University of Wisconsin–Madison Waisman Center autism experts.
TARGET AUDIENCE
This activity is intended for psychologists and social workers.
ACTIVITY OBJECTIVES
At the end of this activity, the learners and the health care team will be able to:
- Identify behavioral indicators of anxiety in school-aged children with autism
- Adapt at least one evidence-based therapy for anxiety for children with autism
- Access additional behavioral health resources for children with autism and anxiety
ELEMENTS OF COMPETENCE
This activity has been designed to change learner competence and focuses on the interprofessional competency of roles/responsibilities.
