Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  1. List the steps to perform sentinel lymph node biopsy in eligible patients with cutaneous melanoma of the head and neck in a safe and effective manner.
  2. Describe the evolving role of completion lymph node dissection in patients with sentinel-lymph node metastasis in cutaneous head and neck melanoma.
  3. Recognize the long term melanoma-specific survival benefit demonstrated for eligible patients undergoing sentinel lymph node biopsy as compared to observation.
