This educational and networking event brings together clinicians, researchers, and data scientists from across the University of Wisconsin–Madison to explore collaborative opportunities at the intersection of artificial intelligence and healthcare.

  • Dr. Majid Afshar, Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine, and Dr. Kyle Cranmer, Professor in the Department of Physics and Director of the Data Science Institute will discuss informatics initiatives and data science capabilities.
  • Panel discussions and a poster session will showcase ongoing AI-related projects.
  • Participants will have opportunities to engage in conversation, share ideas, and foster interdisciplinary connections.

The event will be held in person, with the option to attend the Grand Rounds session either in person or virtually. A light lunch will be provided for in-person attendees.

Intended Audience

This activity is designed for physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, registered nurses, engineers, specialists in informatics, and researchers affiliated with the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Other professionals and professionals-in-training will benefit from participation.

Learning Objectives

As a result of participation in activity, members of the healthcare or research team will be able to:

  • Explore opportunities to initiate or deepen interdisciplinary collaborations between clinical experts and data scientists to co-develop and implement AI solutions in healthcare.
  • Recognize the infrastructure, capabilities, and support available through the Data Science Institute and UW Health informatics programs to facilitate translational AI research and operational implementation.
  • Discuss real-world challenges and solutions related to integrating AI tools into clinical workflows.
