Childhood Arthritis & Rheumatology Research Alliance Continuing Education Series (CARRA) Series 2024
Overview
This continuing education series is designed to create a uniform platform that introduces aspects of the changing landscape of pediatric rheumatology practice, incorporating clinical, research, and patient/family perspectives in order to conduct efficient and effective research that will better the lives of children with rheumatic disease. This series will help new study coordinators understand the field of rheumatology, including specific disease discussion, medications used in rheumatology, and labs required for the completion of this study. This series will help explain why the Childhood Arthritis and Rheumatology Research Alliance (CARRA) is requiring specific questions to be completed by patient/parent participants.
Intended Audience
Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Nurses, Physician Assistants, and Health Professions Students, including Residents and Fellows.
Learning Objectives
As a result of this educational activity, members of the healthcare team will be able to:
- Explain why specific labs and medications for treatment of rheumatic diseases are included in research supported by the CARRA Registry.
- Identify eligible patients for the CARRA Registry based on the knowledge of specific diseases included in CARRA studies, criteria for diagnosis, and measures used to capture the disease activity or severity.
- Approach pediatric patients with rheumatic diseases and families, including those who experience health disparities, to discuss the measures and collect accurate data about the disease and effects of treatment.
- Accurately enter data on study patients into the CARRA Registry.
- Improve interprofessional communication, and collaborative care and research in the area of pediatric rheumatic diseases.
- Accurately enter data on study patients into the CARRA Registry.
