ELEMENTS OF COMPETENCE
This activity has been designed to change learner competence and focuses on the American Board of Medical Specialties areas of patient care and procedural skills, and medical knowledge. This activity also focuses on the interprofessional competency of teams/teamwork.
The Balanced Opioid Initiative: Prescriber-Peer Consulting Model is designed to address the following for the healthcare team:
- Identify and treat complex chronic pain patients in accordance with the CDC guidelines for opioid prescribing in primary care
- Enhance the ability to navigate difficult conversations with complex chronic pain patients surrounding tapering of opioid and/or benzodiazepine doses
- Determine best treatment plan options for inherited patients who have been prescribed high-dose opioids or co-prescribed opioids
- Welcome and Introductions
- Set Case and Session Topic Using the STAR Model
- Discuss Factors and How They Relate to the Topic and Problems that Prescribers are Experiencing
- Post-Session Survey
