Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences Education Retreat 2026
Overview
The main purpose of the activity is to promote the professional development of clinical, research and adjunct faculty members and to foster a climate for innovation, collaboration, and excellence in teaching and learning. Additionally, the event will provide the participants with resources and new ideas to help them improve and grow as educators and mentors through a variety of didactic presentations and interactive table discussions.
Intended Audience
This continuing education activity is designed by and for physicians and non-clinical researchers. Additional professionals that can benefit from this activity include optometrists, clinical adjunct faculty, and staff members that work in academic medicine.
Learning Objectives
As a result of participation in this educational activity, members of the healthcare team will be able to:
- Reflect on and evaluate their qualities as a teacher/preceptor in the OR, clinic, or research setting.;
- Identify key skills and approaches of effective mentoring and teaching in OR, clinic, or research settings they plan to develop or enhance;
- Increase their teaching portfolio with approaches and tools to practice and teach wellness.
