ForwardDepartment of Pediatrics Medical Education Week 2024
The Department of Pediatrics inaugural Medical Education Week will be held March 18-22. Through a mix of live streamed lectures, didactic and interactive sessions and a workshop, members of the Department of Pediatrics and the entire University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health community will have the opportunity to increase understanding and knowledge in the area of medical education.
Intended Audience
This activity was designed by and for physicians, nurses, advanced practice providers, and trainees in the Department of Pediatrics.
Learning Objectives
As a result of this educational activity, learners as members of the healthcare team will be able to:
- Describe innovations and best practices in medical education.
- Improve the implementation of medical education skills, innovations and application for trainee and faculty education and scholarship.
- Discuss self-determination theory and how it impacts leaner and faculty education.
- Evaluate health equity within medical education at a local and national level.

- Topic: Medical Education Week Welcome & Education Updates

- Discuss new developments in accredited continuing education that support clinician wellbeing and improve patient outcomes.
- Describe the UW Health GME structure, roles and responsibilities, and identify key initiatives
- Summarize the iterative nature of curriculum improvement at SMPH, including the 2022 overall curriculum review.

- Overview: In this session, we will review ten tips for getting your medical education scholarship out into the world! We will explore key steps in preparation, traditional and novel dissemination options, and how to maximize output from each scholarly product.
