Series Overview

This regularly scheduled series was designed for orthopaedist, physiatrist, advanced practice providers, or therapists who work in the Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation and who regularly care for patients with musculoskeletal conditions. Orthopedic Surgery Grand Rounds are intended to enhance and expand the health care teams' ability to apply research and practice standards to patient care.

Global Objectives

 As a result of participation in this educational series, members of the healthcare team will be able to:

  •  Explain principles of common orthopedic conditions, including diagnosis and treatment options (surgical and non-surgical).
  • Explain current evidence, guidelines, and recommendations for management of patients with orthopedic conditions and communicate these effectively with other members of the clinical team.
  • Analyze recent research and technologies and their potential to improve management of patients with orthopedic conditions.
  • Initiate appropriate adjuvant and post-operative therapies and follow-ups for orthopedic surgery patients.
  • Describe the roles of orthopedic physicians and care team members in providing effective patient care as part of interprofessional and multi-disciplinary team while adapting to meet the needs of the diverse patient population the team serves.
