Statement of Need

This activity is being held in response to mental health professionals' previous conference evaluations and the need for ongoing continuing medical education for clinicians in the area of psychiatry.

Elements of Competence

This CME activity has been designed to change learner competence and focuses on the American Board of Medical Specialties' areas of medical knowledge and patient care and procedural skills.

Intended Audience

This educational activity has been designed to meet the needs of clinicians and other health care professionals who are looking to enhance their knowledge and skills for the care of their patients with mental health issues.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this educational activity, participants should be able to:

  • Describe the data supporting efficacy and risks associated with transcranial magnetic stimulation in the treatment of major depressive disorder
  • Develop a plan to address substances use disorders in their patients who are children or adolescents
  • Manage the challenges associated with caring for patients with personality disorders
  • Summarize how to balance working with children and their parents in the context of divorce
  • List the most recently developed and discovered drugs of abuse, and their psychiatric sequelae
  • Develop a plan to screen for, diagnose, and treat bipolar disorder in their older adult patients
  • Develop and implement a treatment plan for their patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder
  • Appreciate the clinical and research links between substance use disorders and eating disorders
  • Describe the steps that health care providers can take to promote wellness within their institutions

CANCELLATION AND REFUND POLICY

Requests for cancellation must be submitted in writing to help@icep.wisc.edu. Cancellation requests received at least 96 hours prior to the conference will allow a full refund except for the $50 nonrefundable processing fee. No refunds will be made for cancellations received less than 96 hours prior to the activity start date.

NOTE: If you register after 2:00 on 10/10/2019, you will not receive a printed name tag at the conference.
