Learning Objectives

As a result of this educational session, learners will be able to:

  1. Describe best practices for prescribing analgesia for patients discharged from the ED.
  2. Explain what types of opiates prescriptions should be avoided and the reasons why.
  3. List several adjunctive pain management strategies to help reduce need for opiates.
