Fundamentals of Communication in Surgery: Train the Trainer Fall 2026 - Session B - Option 1 (10/15/26 9AM Central)
Overview
Participants will learn to deliver Fundamentals of Communication in Surgery trainings to surgical residents at their institution. The training will review all program elements and materials, and allow participants to practice skills and techniques, so they have confidence teaching these skills to surgical trainees. Completing this training is necessary to gain access to the materials to provide FCS at their institution.

Intended Audience
This activity is intended for attending surgeons.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of FCS Train-the-Trainer Session B, participants will be able to:
- Demonstrate mastery of Better Conversations and Scenario planning frameworks by using them in role playing surgical scenarios
- Lead scenario planning and shared decision-making activities with surgical residents
- Instruct an entire FCS session for residents at their institution
- Evaluate scenario planning role play by peers and provide constructive feedback
- Identify potential questions and pitfalls in leading sessions
