Hot Topics in Internal Medicine 2022 Conference
Conference Format (In-Person OR Virtual)
Please Note: The Hot Topics in Internal Medicine conference (June 2-3) is scheduled to be in-person at the Madison Marriott West in Middleton, and also live streamed.
CONFERENCE OVERVIEW
This activity enhances participants' knowledge, skills, attitudes and behaviors, with a focus on recent advances in preventive care, acute and chronic disease management, and enhancement of practitioner application of national priorities in health systems improvement. Topics and speakers were carefully considered to be sure that we addressed current challenges for health care issues routinely encountered by primary care providers and their health professional teams. The overall objective of this activity is to provide a comprehensive review of the most important advances in internal medicine and its sub-specialties essential for all medical professionals who care for adults in the following areas:
General Internal Medicine and relevant topics in:
- Pulmonary Medicine
- Cardiovascular Medicine
- Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism
- Gastroenterology and Hepatology
- Geriatrics and Gerontology
- Hematology and Medical Oncology
- Infectious Disease, featuring an update from Dr. Dennis Maki
- Gynecology
- Mental Health
In addition, participants will explore challenging cases and recent research.

Elements of Competence
This activity has been designed to change learner competence and focuses on the American Board of Medical Specialties areas of patient care and procedural skills and medical knowledge. This activity also focuses on the interprofessional competencies of roles and responsibilities.
Conference Objectives
The 2022 Internal Medicine Conference is designed to:
- Enhance participants' knowledge, skills, attitudes and behaviors, with a focus on recent advances in preventive care, acute and chronic disease management, and development of practitioner application of national priorities in health systems improvement.
- Identify current challenges for health care issues routinely encountered by primary care providers and their health care professional teams.
- Provide a comprehensive review of the most important advances in internal medicine and its subspecialties essential for all medical professionals who care for adults.

CANCELLATION AND REFUND POLICY
Requests for cancellation must be submitted in writing to help@icep.wisc.edu. Cancellation requests received at least 120 hours prior to the conference will allow a full refund except for the nonrefundable processing fee of $50. No refunds will be made for cancellations received less than 5 days prior to the activity start date.
