Program Description
The Wisconsin Genetics Exchange is an annual statewide educational conference primarily intended for genetics and allied healthcare professionals. The purpose of the Wisconsin Genetics Exchange is to provide participants with an opportunity for statewide collaboration and continued professional development. Sharing of knowledge and practices is an important way of increasing the competency of practitioners in Wisconsin.
NSGC CEU credit is also available! Genetic counselors, be sure to complete the evaluation to request your credit.
Intended Audience
This activity is intended for physicians, fellows/residents, physician assistants, nurses, genetic counselors, geneticists, lab technicians, and other allied health care professionals.
Elements of Competence
This CE activity has been designed to change learner competence and focuses on the American Board of Medical Specialties' areas of medical knowledge, patient care and procedural skills, practice-based learning and improvement, and systems-based practice.
This activity also focuses on the interprofessional competencies of values/ethics and roles/responsibilities.
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, the healthcare team will be able to:
- Apply new knowledge and tools to their professional practice.
- Describe activities to increase access to genetic services and testing.
- Discuss emerging technology and therapies targeted to treat individuals with genetic conditions.

National Society of Genetic Counselors (NSGC) CEU Credit
The NSGC has authorized Genetic Systems Integration Hub and Center for Human Genomics and Precision Medicine to offer up to 0.56 CEUs or 5.6 Category 1 contact hours for the activity 2021 Wisconsin Genetics Exchange. The American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) will accept CEUs earned at this program for the purposes of genetic counselor certification and recertification.
