UWNIL: Wound Staging: Identifying and Responding to Pressure Injuries

Overview

This session will help staff learn how to assess and identify different stages of pressure injuries. It will also cover basic treatment approaches and build confidence in staging wounds, especially in patients with different skin tones.

    As a result of this activity, participants, as members of the healthcare team will be able to:

    • Identify and differentiate the stages of pressure injuries
    • Differentiate how pressure injuries appear on light versus dark skin, focusing on early-stage signs
    • Inform other staff about wound staging to support better understanding
