UHS Summer Academy - 2026
UHS Summer Academy is an annual learning series for providers at UHS and has a focus on clinical services. The sessions will cover various topics relevant to college students and providing clinical mental health services to a college campus.

Elements of Competence
This continuing education activity has been designed to change learner competence and focuses on the American Board of Medical Specialties areas of patient care and procedural skills and the interprofessional competencies of values/ethics, roles/responsibilities, communication, and teams/teamwork.
Intended Audience
This activity is designed for physicians, nurses, advanced practice providers, psychologists, social workers, licensed counselors and other interested mental healthcare providers.
Learning Objectives
As a result of participation in this series, members of the healthcare team will be able to:
- Formulate strategies for integrating cultural broaching techniques into individual and group counseling sessions to support student social and emotional well-being.
- Apply skills for framing and focusing the single session to maximize limited time and support rapid client change.
- Improve ability to effectivity discuss sexuality and kink with students in therapeutic settings.
- Create opportunities for clients to identify their own co-regulation strengths for building healthier relationships.
- Evaluate current literature and emerging trends to identify best practices for utilizing ecotherapy interventions with clients.
- Apply student-focused skills to interprofessional clinical teams, specifically cultural broaching and attunement.
