Sexual Harassment Prevention in the Workplace 2024-2026

WHY IS THIS TRAINING IMPORTANT?

40-70% of female workers and 10-20% of male workers experience workplace sexual harassment.

Victims of harassment often have negative emotional, physical, and financial impact.

Those who observe harassment, or provide support to victims are also impacted.

Sexual Harassment Prevention Training is required for all persons who hold a professional license issued by the Division of Professional Regulation within Illinois and are subject to a continuing education (CE) requirement.
  • This requirement became effective for all applicable license renewals that occurred after January 1, 2020.
  • This one-hour of sexual harassment prevention training CE course has been created in order to fulfill this requirement. (All UW-Madison employees are also required to complete Prevent Sexual Harassment and Sexual Violence at UW-Madison.)
  • Upon successful completion of the course, print a certificate of completion to be maintained in your own personal files, should proof of completion be requested.

Intended Audience

All persons who hold a professional license issued by the Division of Professional Regulation within Illinois and are subject to a continuing education (CE) requirement. This includes physicians, nurses, medical assistants, pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and others.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this activity, a learner will be able to:

  • Define the term sexual harassment
  • Discuss two forms of sexual harassment, “Quid-Pro Quo” and “Hostile Environment”
  • Identify examples of conduct that constitute unlawful sexual harassment
  • Review federal and state statutory provisions, including remedies available to victims of sexual harassment
  • Identify the responsibilities of employers to investigate and ensure a non-retaliatory environment when sexual harassment is reported
  • Review UW Health’s specific Sexual Harassment Policy
