Learning Objectives:

  1. Describe the primary visual pathway as well as other pathways involving the optic nerve including sympathetic and parasympathetic responses to light and the optokinetic reflex.
  2. Identify atypical features of optic neuropathy that warrant more-extensive testing than MRI alone.
  3. Develop a differential diagnosis for atypical optic neuropathy in part based on red-flag features to maximize the yield of work-up.
